"During our six-day stay in Chemnitz, we will conduct workshops to explore a variety of narratives, including African stories and wooden sculptures, along with artists and puppet makers from the UK, Africa, Europe, and Germany. This collaboration will culminate in a showcase at the Maker United trade fair.

In the UK, we will hold a conference with partners from Togo, Mali, and Senegal participating online. This conference will focus on the future of marionettes, new storytelling methods, and traditional production techniques in conjunction with emerging technologies."

About the partners

Swallow's Wings Puppetry is a grassroots community arts organisation dedicated to celebrating African Caribbean culture and reaching diverse and underrepresented audiences in the arts. We work with children, neurodiverse individuals, hearing-impaired communities, and elders in their homes and community settings. Our mission is to enchant, entertain, educate, and foster cross-generational dialogue.

Dialogus Kultur is dedicated to fostering peaceful and respectful coexistence among diverse individuals. Our mission emphasises inclusion, personal development, practical experiences, and education for sustainable development.We believe in the power of diversity and work to create environments where people can connect and engage with wood crafts and art.

We provide opportunities for learning about diversity and democracy & we strive to support disadvantaged children and young people. We are committed to creating a new social space through workshops, events, hands-on projects, and urban cultural activities for the residents of Mittweida and the Capital of Culture Region, Chemnitz 2025.
