“The Cultural Bridge funding will allow us to bring together learning disabled and neurodivergent artists from Wales and Germany to work together in the creation and presentation of a large-scale street theatre performance: ROBOTS. The project will facilitate a unique opportunity for exchange between our artists and organisations as they collaborate on the dramaturgy and choreography before performing together at two street theatre festivals in Germany. For some of the learning disabled and neurodivergent artists involved, this will be their first time travelling internationally, a vital opportunity for progression in both their professional aspirations and towards more independent lives.”

About the partners
Hijinx is one of Europe’s leading inclusive theatre companies. Our vision is a world where the arts and society are fully inclusive for learning disabled and/or autistic people. For 40+ years we have been working to achieve this by pioneering, producing, and promoting professional and participatory opportunities for learning disabled and autistic people in the creative industries. A central component of our work are our 5 Academies, the only sources of professional performance training for learning disabled and/or autistic actors in Wales. The 64 actors we train have the potential to produce their own work; devise and perform in Hijinx’s internationally touring theatre productions and films; at Hijinx Unity Festival (one of Europe’s largest inclusive and disability arts festivals); and as disability awareness trainers in our award-winning communications training. Through representation via our casting platform (the largest in the UK for learning disabled and/or autistic actors), they gain meaningful paid employment with UK leading theatre, film, and television companies. Hijinx also facilitate a Wales-wide community and outreach department, PAWB, engaging 100+ learning disabled and/or autistic, and non-disabled people weekly to build life skills, confidence, and independence.

tanzbar_bremen wants to make art and culture accessible to as many people as possible. For over 15 years we have been realizing projects in which people from different backgrounds work together professionally and at eye level. For our performances, workshops, and actions we are often on the road nationally and internationally.
In Bremen, which is the headquarters of our association, we offer regular training in various formats in the areas of culture and education. These activities always take place with and through dance, performance, and theatre. We also show our own dance productions nationally and internationally and present guest performances from Germany and abroad.
